Disinfection with Hydrogen Peroxides
The disinfection properties of Hydrogen Peroxide have long been known. It is a chemical naturally present in rainwater and has been used in drinking water disinfection since the 1950’s. Unfortunately pure Hydrogen Peroxide is very unstable when used for disinfection, and can rapidly decompose through a chain reaction on first encountering organics. Due to the rapid decomposition, Chlorine became the dominant disinfectant in the water treatment markets.
In the 1970’s German scientists created a way of stabilising the decomposition of the hydrogen peroxide by using silver. In essence hydrogen peroxide molecules were attached to silver molecules, removing the chain-reaction properties of the hydrogen peroxide molecules. Whilst silver peroxides have increased the use of hydrogen peroxide based disinfection, the extreme toxicity of silver and silver nitrates to plant and marine life make it unsuitable for use in some applications currently dominated by Chlorine.
The Oxyl-Pro Break through
Oxyl-Pro is the next level in hydrogen peroxide disinfection. Using only aseptic grade hydrogen peroxide combined with an entirely food safe stabiliser, Oxyl-Pro encapsulates each individual hydrogen peroxide molecule to create atomic oxygen. When in contact with organic matter, only the amount needed to disinfect will be used, with the rest of the solution staying encapsulated.
This means Oxyl-Pro truly is a food-safe disinfectant, suitable for constant use in drinking water systems, and can be used in no-rinse applications within the food industry.
